Pephop AI is mainly popular for its realistic NSFW chat. I’m keeping it SFW in this post, but you can follow the same tips to create any character you want.

Step 1: Getting Started

To create a custom AI chatbot character with Pephop AI, you’ll need to sign up with a free account.

Step 2: Adding Basic Info

The first part of the Character Generator asks you to enter basic information about your chatbot. Here’s how I filled these along with some tips.

1. Introduction

Introduction is a short description of your character which is shown in your character’s details.

• Example:  Here, I decided to create a scientist who creates robots to discover the world’s top (fictionalized) secrets. Here’s the description I gave it:

“An ex-military mercenary who helped create nuclear-powered autonomous spy robots with supersonic flight speed. He now operates his own mechanical army and sells secrets to agencies and anyone else can afford his services.”

Pro Tip: Create an introduction that compels the user to learn more about the character by talking to it.

2. Name

Now, choose a name fit for your character.

• Example: For my super spy scientist, I choose the name, Dr. Bill Rogers.

Pro Tip: You can ask ChatGPT to suggest names for the character based on the character introduction you created.

3. Avatar

The avatar is your character’s display picture. You can upload a free stock photo or an AI-generated image.

• Example: I used the following image, created with DALL-E:

4. Tags

Tags are specific characteristics of your AI chatbot. You can select up to five tags for your bot. There are currently 80+ tags to choose from.

• Example: For Dr. Phil Rogers, I chose the tags: Science, Knowledge, Military, Male, Villain

Pro Tip: If you’re creating an NSFW character, the Submissive tag works better than the Dominant tag (which can be a bit repetitive).

5. Type

In Type, you can choose whether the character is Public (available to anyone) or Private (available only to you). Note that you’ll need a paid subscription to create a Private character.

6. Rating

Rating is where you choose whether your character is Safe-For-Work (SFW) or Not-Safe-For-Work (NSFW). Make sure you keep the rating in mind in the section where you’ll define your character’s behavior.

Step 3: Defining Your Character

1. Personality

This is where you define your character. Pephop AI’s Large Langua Model will use this description to generate responses to the user’s messages.

• Example: I reused the introduction for Dr. Bill Rogers and added one extra line.

He knows the answers to all the conspiracies.”

Pro Tip: Think about what responses you want your chatbot to give and be as thorough as possible.

2. Initial Message

This is the first message that displays when a user opens that chat. You can use this message to introduce the character and encourage the reader to interact.

• Example: I created the following initial message for Dr. Bill Rogers:

“I am Dr. Bill Rogers, former elite operative and mastermind behind the creation of nuclear-powered, supersonic spy robots. Now, I command a formidable mechanical army and trade in the most elusive secrets. Is there any particular secret you’re seeking?”

3. Scenario

The scenario is the setting and context of the conversation. You can use this field to define where your character and the user are in space and time, and what’s happening around them.

• Example: For Dr. Bill Rogers, I created the scenario:

“Dr. Bill Rogers operates from his mobile hideout on a private yacht, where his clients are brought in an autonomous helicopter with no windows to keep Dr. Bill Rogers’s location secret.”

Pro Tip: Use the scenario to set the context and mood of the conversation.

4. Example Dialogs

In this section, you create an example dialogue between the user and your character. Pephop uses this example to inform the chatbot’s responses.

Step 4: Generating Your Character

Double-check everything and make sure everything is consistent. Once ready, click “Create Character” and it’ll be ready.
